Often I get asked to explain what The Creative Chronicle is all about. It’s a simple question, but also an important one. We’ve seen a lot of growth here lately, so I just wanted to reach out to anyone who wants to know a little more about The Creative Chronicle, or is curious as to why I started this site.

You'll find no perfectly curated photos of marble countertops, delicate gold jewelry, white subway tile, or meticulously arranged succulents on this account. While there's nothing wrong with those photos in general, I find that it's not always realistic content. The Creative Chronicle's aesthetic isn't perfection - it's relatability. It's color and vibrancy. I want every woman who reads the site and follows on Instagram to feel like she belongs here, and like she's found her space. The women we interview are real, flawed, inspirational, and emotional - nobody has the perfect life, perfect body, perfect anything. The Creative Chronicle has always been about connecting women and lifting them up - not alienating them by promoting some unattainable aesthetic. Sometimes it can be hard to scroll through your Instagram or your Facebook feed and not feel unworthy. Everyone seems to be living a cooler life than you, and the illusion of perfection can be suffocating. I didn't get up this morning and have a beautifully poured latte with a croissant for breakfast - I ate cereal standing in my kitchen in a dirty sweatshirt. (And I'll bet most of you probably did something similar). So why post the latte picture, when an admittance to the dirty sweatshirt encourages so much more community?

I never want you to feel like you're not welcome here, or like you're not good enough to follow along. This site is for you. It’s meant to inspire you and expose you to other creative women who are doing cool things. It’s meant to provide a space for introspection, so you can consider your own dreams; who do you want to be? What do you want to do? Are you living your life to the fullest, right now? Are you being the best you can be? I want you to let me know if there's a woman who inspired you, who changed your life, or who made you a better person. Let's celebrate that! Let's celebrate making each other stronger.

The Creative Chronicle embraces kindness and inclusivity. It’s a safe space for women to shine. We don’t tear each other down, or judge one another. It’s hard enough to be a woman, let’s not make it harder. I want you to love our content, and glean inspiration from it. I want you to feel better about yourself when you visit our site, not worse. Our mantra has always been and will always be to uplift and support women creatives. As long as we’re doing that, I’m happy.

So check out some of our interviews and take a look at what other women are creating! Read the Ten Facts features, and revel in how other women love dessert, weekends, bingeing TV, and eating pizza just as much as you do. Imagine your answers to the questions asked in the interviews, and think about what you wanted to be when you grew up. What did you dream about as a kid? Chase that feeling of wonder and creativity that you used to have - I know you know what I mean.

Let's lift each other up, and remember what it means to be women. We're stronger, kinder, and fiercer than we know.
